Film Making.

 Film Making

In Te Maunga we did film making. We learnt about how to make a movie and the steps and things you have to do to make a movie. My favourite thing to learn was that when you finish making the movie you would have to edit it and make the sound clear. To improve my talent and skills I  will be a better actor in a movie and make the movie even better.

Earthquakes & Volcanoes

In Te Maunga we did reading about earthquakes and volcanoes. We learnt about the volcano that erupted in La Palma and other things about earthquakes and volcanoes. I learned about process.of a volcano. First  the lava will start rising up. Then once the lava has reached the top the rock that is on the top will blast up to the air and the lava will come bursting out. The lava will then spread everywhere.. My favourite thing to learn was the process about how a volcano will erupt. We also learnt what to do when an earthquake hits.  The thing you can learn from this when an earthquake hits you should always get under a table and hold the legs of it. .

PAL Day

On the last day of term 3 we had PAL day with seniors. We played Big ball soccer, then we played rob the nest. I got a lollie , since we got every single ball. We then played bat soccer. Then the last game we played was the floor is lava but you could stay on the lines. One thing I liked doing was playing rob the nest since I got a lolly at the end of that game. I tried hard at the big ball soccer since no one scored a goal.

The mesurement

In Te Maunga we all did a DLO about our measurement. We learnt about what a perimeter is and what an area is . The perimeter is the outside of something, so say I have drawn a 3 square box, and I want to count the outside, so that's when I find out what the perimeter is by counting the outside of something. An area is the inside of the shape. If I wanted to find out the inside of the shape I would count the inside squares which are called the area, then this would be my answer for the area . My favourite part was that when we were starting to do the perimeter slide I knew what a perimeter was because when I was in Nga Motu last year, I remember we learned things about a perimeter. The thing that made me think hard was that sometimes I got the answers wrong because I missed counting some of the sides on the perimeter.

The amazing art

In Te Maunga we have been learning about our Maunga and our awa. First we had to practice drawing our maunga it in our book, so by then we did it on the A4 paper so it would be easy to draw, then we got our paper and started drawing on it. When we finished drawing Mr Ngata told us that we would be using pastel for colouring in our maunga and awa. He also told us that we could do a little bit of blending if we wanted to. The Last thing Mr Ngata said is to try to get the pastel in the line. My favourite part of our artwork is drawing my Maunga and getting to color it in especially the blending and I also liked doing my Whakatauki on my Maunga. I will try to improve my work by doing the best that I can do.

Cool things about sea creatures

In Te Maunga we were learning about  sea creatures. We learnt about different  facts about different sea animals. We also learnt about the length of a whale and how to clean up oil in the sea, so you first put dishwashing liquid and food coloring and then just add some water and then you are done . My favourite piece about   learning was that we got to pick sea creatures and when we got to do the sea creatures activities. The thing that I learnt is that you should never litter because sea animals will die and  you should never leave your rubbish on the floor and especially the beach.

Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori

In Te Maunga we had Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. I learnt about Te Reo and other things about The Reo. One thing I liked doing was doing the puzzle because we then had a quiz and when you finish the puzzle it will say ATAAHUA and that would be one of the answers to the quiz. The thing that made me think hard was that I couldn't answer the second to last answer on the quiz, so I scrolled through the things that will give you a clue and I finally got the answer [which was whanau].

The boring Lockdown

In Te Maunga we had Lockdown. At home I went out fishing with my Dad and I played around and just did other things around the house. We learnt about science online. I learnt that if you add something like gas and a few more ingredients [I forgot the rest].Then if you put one finger into the bowl of ingredients, yellow water would just make a circle of yellow water around the bubble from the gas.One thing I liked doing in lockdown, was that I could spend more days & time with my family. The thing that you can learn from this is that lockdown may take a while [and it might get boring] but you should always stay put where ever you live and just listen to what the Prime Minister says.

The smart science

In Te Maunga we have been doing science. We learnt about volcanoes, lava lamps, and marshmallow launchers. One thing I liked doing was when we poured the baking soda into the vinegar with the food colouring and the hot and cold water. The thing you can learn from this is that science takes a long time to practice and that you should always take your time doing science.

The science expreiment

In Te Maunga we have been doing science. We learnt many things about science like super powers. We also learnt about invisibility and fire. One thing I liked doing was watching Nanogirl perform her amazing science. The thing you can learn from this is that science takes a long time to learn and that you can also learn how things work.

Doing Measurement

In Te Maunga we have been doing measurement. We learnt how heavy three knives and three forks weigh. We also learnt the temperature of hot water, half hot and cold water and the temperature of just cold water. We learnt about the units of measurements and other things about measurements. My favourite part was when me and my group did the one where you had to see the degrees celsius of hot water, half hot water and half cold water. The thing that I think you can learn from this is lots of things about  measurement and other things like the units, the weight and the temperature.

Matariki

In TeMaunga we have been doing Matariki. We learnt about the star cluster of Matariki and other things about Matariki. We also learnt Matariki means the Maori New Year. One thing that I liked doing was painting rocks with Elly and my other classmates. The thing that I’m going to do to challenge myself is trying to learn more and more things about Matariki.
